Notes (1)

  1. 1Herodotus 1.84.2, on Cyrus' [kappa 2777, kappa 2778] capture of Sardis in 546 BCE. The headword is masculine singular nominative of an epic/Ionic omicron-stem alternative to the more common consonant-stem fu=lac. It is used frequently by Herodotus, but only here and in 6.75 in the nominative. (First in Homer, Iliad 24.566, accusative plural.) ↩
