[*stupei=on is spelled with epsiloniota] but stu/ppion [also occurs].1 And the one means the pit of the olive, but the other, [the material] from which flax is spun.2

Greek original · Adler’s text

Στυπεῖον· Στύππιον δέ. καὶ τὸ μὲν σημαίνει τὸ τῆς ἐλαίας ὀστοῦν, τὸ δέ, ὅθεν τὸ λίνον νήθεται.

Notes (2)

  1. (Entry lacking, Adler reports, in mss AF.)
  2. 1See LSJ s.v. stuppei=on for the wide variety of attested spellings. ↩
  3. 2Parallels for the 'flax' aspect in other lexica (references at Photius sigma652 Theodoridis), including, according to Adler, the Ambrosian Lexicon. (The 'pit of the olive' sense seems to be otherwise unattested, in either spelling, and is not registered by LSJ.)
    cf. sigma 1117, sigma 1259.
