Notes (1)

  1. In English we would naturally say 'Sardinian', but the Greek toponym Sardo (sigma 130) gave rise to an adjective using, likewise, o(micron).
For the headword phrase see e.g. Herodotus 1.166.2, Polybius 1.10.5, Strabo 2.5.19 (a precise definition).
  2. 1(Lacking, Adler reports, in mss AF.) Quite different: a.k.a. the Saronic Gulf, between Athens and the Argolid, and embracing Aegina. ↩
