Translation
Name of a city.
Greek original · Adler’s text
Σισάν· ὄνομα πόλεως.
Betacode
*sisa/n: o)/noma po/lews.
Notes
- Here in the accusative case, as it appears in what is probably the Suda's source (Theodoret, Historia religiosa 26.2: 'a village (kome) on the borders between our territory and Cilicia'). Cf. sigma 343.
This is perhaps the same as the unlocated toponym Sis near Issos/Nikopolis (Barrington Atlas Directory p.1038).
A less likely connection is with the Sisaioi of northern Crete.
