Translation

Greek original · Adler’s text
Σμῆγμα· καθαρτικόν, τὸ ἀποσμῆχον.
Betacode
*smh=gma: kaqartiko/n, to\ a)posmh=xon.
Notes
- Similarly in ps.-Herodian and, according to Adler, the Ambrosian Lexicon.
The headword formsmh=gma appears once in Plutarch (Demetrius 27.2) and three times in the Septuagint (Esther 2.3, 2.9; Susanna [Th.v.] 17). However, it may be cited from a medical author. It is reasonably frequent in Galen, Aetius, and Oribasius, among others.
