Translation

"There are bronze voting-ballots with a tube in the middle, half [of them] hollowed-out, half solid. When the speeches have been made, those appointed by lot to [deal with] the ballots hand over to each of the jurors two ballots, a hollowed-out one and a solid one, in full view of the litigants, so that they shall not take either [two] hollowed-out or [two] solid in the same [distribution]".

Notes

  1. From Harpokration s.v., which is commenting in the first instance on Aeschines 1.79 but proceeds to give this quotation of ?Aristotle, Athenaion Politeia 68.2 (web address 1).
The headword is nominative singular of the feminine participle which appears in the quotation in the nominative plural.
