Translation

[*ti/ dai/ means the same as] ti/ dh/? They say ti/ dh/ also like this.1
Aristophanes in Wealth [writes]: "What indeed? Aren't you filling the triremes? Tell me." It is an interrogative conjunction, written with the diphthong for extension.2 And Homer [writes] in the Odyssey: "What [kind of] banquet [is this]? What crowd indeed?"3

  1. See also tau 562.
  2. 1Likewise in Photius, Lexicon tau279 Theodoridis; similarly in Hesychius tau847 and the scholia to Aristophanes, Plutus 156 (see at n. 3 below). According to LSJ s.v., this is a colloquial equivalent of ti/ dh/. ↩
  3. 2Aristophanes, Wealth [Plutus] 172. ↩
  4. 3(From a scholion on Aristophanes, Plutus 156:) Homer, Odyssey 225 (where perhaps de\ should be read rather than dai\). ↩
