Τοὐλαιόν· τὸ ἀριστερόν.

Betacode
*tou)laio/n: to\ a)ristero/n.

Notes (1)

  1. The headword is an erroneous spelling with crasis for to\ laio/n; cf. lambda 174, lambda 193. It was probably influenced by the immediately-preceding tou)/laion, tau 819 (with different accentuation).
  2. 1'Better' in this context is a well-recognised euphemism; in reality the left side was thought to be worse (cf. 'sinister'); see alpha 3901, etc. ↩
