Translation
In reference to ages [this adjective] has an acute accent [sc. on the final syllable], like e)nnaeth\s a)/nqrwpos ["a nine-year-old person"];1 but in reference to periods of time it has a grave accent, like e)nnae/ths ["nine years long"]. So too in reference to similar [numerals].
Greek original · Adler’s text
Τριακονταετής· ἐπὶ τῶν ἡλικιῶν ὀξύνεται, οἷον ἐνναετὴς ἄνθρωπος· ἐπὶ δὲ τῶν χρόνων βαρύνεται, οἷον ἐνναέτης. οὕτω καὶ ἐπὶ τῶν ὁμοίων.

Notes (1)
- cf. tau 941.
George Choeroboscus mentions the variation of accent in On Orthography, but the distinction does not seem to be observed in attested texts. - 1This phrase is presumably quoted from somewhere but is unidentifiable. ↩
