Ἀμολγός

[Meaning] the dead of night, or the hour at which animals are not milked [a)me/lgontai].¹ Or else, by removal of the gamma [amolgos becomes amolos], the hour at which no one goes about [molei=]. Or else by removal of the lambda [amolgos becomes amogos], the hour at which no one toils [mogei=].
