Translation

He of whom myth tells that he holds up earth and heaven.¹
"And iron shoulders of Atlas."²
And a proverb [sc. is attested]: "Atlas the heaven." It omits "you lifted up." In reference to those undertaking great matters and encountering misfortunes.³

Ἄτλας· ὁ μυθευόμενος τὴν γῆν καὶ τὸν οὐρανὸν βαστάζειν. καὶ σιδηρέους Ἄτλαντος ὤμους. καὶ παροιμία· Ἄτλας τὸν οὐρανόν. λείπει ὑπεδέξω. ἐπὶ τῶν μεγάλοις πράγμασιν ὑποβαλλομένων καὶ κακοῖς περιπιπτόντων.
