Translation

[Meaning they] wanting. Xenophon: "[Clearchus] led and the others followed - not [on the basis of] having chosen [him] but seeing that only he was thinking as a leader must".¹

Ἑλόμενοι· βουλόμενοι. Ξενοφῶν· ὁ μὲν ἦρχεν, οἱ δὲ ἐπείθοντο οὐχ ἑλόμενοι, ἀλλ' ὁρῶντες ὅτι μόνος ἐφρόνει οἷα ἔδει τὸν ἄρχοντα.
