Translation

[Meaning he/she/it] used to desire, used to take.¹ "For often, not only in the daytime but also at night, food used to be prepared and the public wealth was wasted in the preparation of dinners."²

ᾙρεῖτο· ἐπεθύμει, ἐλάμβανε. πολλάκις γὰρ οὐ μόνον τῆς ἡμέρας ἀλλὰ καὶ τῆς νυκτὸς ἐσιτοποιεῖτο καὶ ὑπὲρ τὰς τῶν δείπνων παρασκευὰς τὰ πολυτελῆ τῶν δημοσίων ἀπετρύετο.

2John of Antioch fr.97 FHG (4.577), now 179 Roberto, on the gluttonous emperor Vitellius. Already at alpha 3089 and beta 309, from the latter of which we see that "food used to be prepared" (e)sitopoiei=to) is wrong; read si=ton h|(rei=to ("he used to desire food"), which explains why the quotation is repeated under the present headword.
