Translation
[Meaning she] persuaded [me] to marry. Properly the [verb] "set on" [is used] to mean filled with conceit and exalted, [she] promising that the woman would bring a great dowry, claiming she was a homemaker, although she was not so [inclined]. Aristophanes in Clouds [writes]: "[the matchmaker] who set me on marrying your mother."1
