Translation

[Meaning] deceptions.1
Also [sc. attested is the related participle] klape/ntes ["they having been robbed"], meaning [they] having been deceived.2 "Not having accurate knowledge, but robbed by the first sight, supposing that they were even more than they [sc. actually] were, they send messages to their own people."3

Greek original · Adler’s text

Notes (3)

  1. 1The headword is nominative plural of the feminine noun kloph/, with the same glossing in other lexica; see the references at Photius kappa797 Theodoridis. It is presumably quoted from somewhere, perhaps the New Testament (Matthew 15.19 = Mark 7.21). ↩
  2. 2Aorist passive participle of kle/ptw, masculine nominative plural; doubtless extracted from the quotation which follows. ↩
  3. 3Quotation unidentifiable. ↩
