Translation

[Meaning] force, effort.1
But me/nos differs from qa/rsos ["courage"], for me/nos refers to the body, but qa/rsos to the soul.2

Notes (2)

  1. 1Likewise or similarly in other lexica (see the references at Photius mu279 Theodoridis), and cf. also a scholion on Homer, Iliad 5.2, where me/nos and qa/rsos both occur (web address 1). *me/nos is cognate with Sanskrit mánas "spirit, passion." ↩
  2. 2So scholia A on Homer, Iliad 5.2 (above). Not in mss AF of the Suda. ↩
