Notes
- cf. generally mu 713 and upsilon 224. Identical entries occur in a number of previous lexica, including Apollonius' Homeric Lexicon, the Synagoge, Photius (mu325 Theodoridis), and the Etymologicum Magnum. The headword noun occurs in Homer, Iliad 9.648 (web address 1) and 16.59 (web address 2: "just like a
metana/sths without honour"); and Aristotle quoted the line when, in Politics 1278a35-38 (web address 3), he was endeavouring to characterize the classical metoikos (registered immigrant) -- his own status in Athens.
