Translation

[Meaning] they might be prosecuted.1
Also [sc. attested is the participle] feu/gwn ["as a defendant"], [meaning] when being prosecuted. Aristophanes in Clouds [writes]: "as a defendant he [sc. an expert in gnats] would easily evade the suit".2

Notes (2)

  1. 1For this sense of the verb feu/gw see already phi 236. The form here is present optative, third person plural. Same glossing in the Synagoge (phi82) and Photius phi128, where Theodoridis plausibly suggests that the headword is extracted from Xenophon, Hellenica 1.1.27 (web address 1). ↩
  2. 2Aristophanes, Clouds 167 (web address 2), with scholion. ↩
