Translation

This man, a profligate, was discovered in Athens to have stolen sacred property and taken away the Gorgon's Head, as Isocrates says.1 Aeschines mentions him in the [speech] Against Ktesiphon.2

Notes (2)

  1. An ill-documented scandal from, apparently, the late C5 BC. At omicron 311 and phi 310 the perpetrator's name is Phileas.
The first part of the entry is also in Photius (phi205 Theodoridis).
  2. 1Isocrates 18.57: web address 1. ↩
  3. 2Or, mentions 'it', i.e. the Gorgoneion; but either way, not so. ↩
