Notes (2)
- 1The headword verb is attested only here. Adler reports that mss GM put it after phi 744, as alphabetical order would require; also that ms V reads
frwtei=n . But Hesychius (phi1081) and other lexica havefw/gein as a headword, glossed withfru/gein "to parch, to roast." David Ruhnken (1723-1798) suggested readingfw/gein as the headword here, andfru/ttein (a later variant offru/gein ) as the gloss; Bernhardy would make the gloss eitherfru/ttein orfru/gein . See further at Photius phi327 Theodoridis. ↩ - 2Adler notes that 'Pierson' [the Dutch scholar Johann Pierson, 1731-1759] suggested that "in Attic" belongs to phi 744. ↩
