Translation
[Meaning] gloomy; for the [prefix] palin indicates emphasis, as in paligkapelos ["one who sells frequently"] and palimpratos ["that which is sold frequently"].1
Common usage calls palinskia the plains which are not warmed by the sun.

Notes (1)
- 1Likewise in Photius, Lexicon pi89 Theodoridis, and cf. already pi 104. In the present entry the headword adjective (LSJ entry at web address 1) is in the dative singular, as in the fragment from Sophocles quoted at pi 104. The glossing terms
paligka/phlos andpali/mpratos are better interpreted as "one who re-sells" and "that which is resold" respectively. ↩
