Notes

  1. = Hesychius pi1575, Synagoge, Photius pi638 Theodoridis. The lexica differ on accentuation. In the Synagoge and here in the Suda it is oxytone, periaoido/s, but Hesychius and Photius have proparoxytone, peria/oidos. Either way, the word is otherwise unattested. It is interpreted here as related to the adjective periw|diko/s found in e.g. Hephaestion 61, 67.
