Notes (3)

  1. 1From the scholia to Sophocles, Oedipus at Colonus 785, where pa/raulon occurs (web address 1). ↩
  2. 2These are hypothetical etymologies of the headword, deriving it from para- ('alongside') and au)lh/ ('courtyard') or au)loi/ ('(musical) pipes'). ↩
  3. 3Sophocles, Ajax 892 (web address 2), with comments from the scholia. ↩
