Notes

  1. Nominative/accusative neuter plural of this adjective (for which cf. pi 803 and elsewhere). Though attested in many authors, it seems to be extracted here from Lucian, Pseudosophistes 5. See the scholia there, with an interesting take on the equivalence assumed in the present entry (and also in e.g. a scholion to Homer, Iliad 6.215): the headword adjective is appropriate when one's father is dead, the glossing one when he is still alive.
