*paidokomou=nta: pai=da tre/fonta.
Notes (1)
- The transmitted headword, purportedly extracted from somewhere (but attested only here), is present active participle, either neuter nominative/accusative plural or masculine accusative singular, of the contract verb
paidokome/w (I take care of a child); see generally LSJ s.v. Adler notes that in mss AFVM the headword ispaidokomw=nta (also otherwise unattested). But see anyway next note. - 1This same glossing phrase for
paidoko/mon , i.e. a related adjective in the masculine/feminine accusative singular, appears in the Synagoge, Lexica Segueriana 325.14, and Photius, Lexicon pi29 Theodoridis. Perhaps that is what the Suda should have too; and perhaps [DW] it is extracted from Nonnus, Dionysiaca 21.20 (its only independent attestation). ↩
