γ202Γέρων ἀλώπηξ οὐχ ἁλίσκεται πάγῃ
an old fox is not caught in a trap
[sc. A proverb] in reference to those [made] experienced and hard to catch by the passage of time. Also "an old ox [is] sorrow-free at home," in reference to those who died when their time came.
Γέρων ἀλώπηξ οὐχ ἁλίσκεται πάγῃ· ἐπὶ τῶν διὰ χρόνου πλῆθος ἐμπείρων καὶ δυσαλώτων. καὶ Γέρων βοῦς ἀπένθητος δόμοισιν, ἐπὶ τῶν καθ' ὥραν τελευτησάντων.
