Translation
[Meaning] shadows [skia/s ] of a sort. Also hoeings [skaleu/mata ].1 It comprises the [noun] a)/qurma ['plaything'], like a game and nothing worthy of belief. That is, notions that are shallow and small in every way, also teachings, scratchings.

Notes (1)
- The headword (neuter plural accusative) occurs, in the elided form
skalaqurma/ti' , in Aristophanes, Clouds 630. The comments here mostly find parallels in the scholia thereto; cf., more briefly, Hesychius sigma805 and Photius sigma267 Theodoridis. - 1These glosses, along with the reference to
a)/qurma (alpha 767) in the next sentence, seem to be more of an effort to find sound-alike words that offer a plausible etymology, rather than an attempt to elucidate the meaning. ↩
