Translation

[Meaning] they abated their labour.
"But when the Romans finished work, groping around their underground tunnels in the murk, they encamped around the garrison at Chlomaron."¹

Ἀπεπόνουν· τοῦ πόνου ἔληγον. ἀλλ' ὅτε Ῥωμαῖοι ἀπεπόνουν ἐρεβοδιφοῦντες τὰ ὑποχθόνια, στρατοπεδεύουσιν ἀμφὶ τὸ φρούριον τὸ Χλομάρων.
