Χρυσὸς Κολοφώνιος

The Colophonians¹ worked the finest gold; Colophonian gold, they say, is far superior to any other.² Perhaps the Lydians who were exiled from their own country took possession of the gold-mines around Thrace and [the river] Strymon with certain Ionians and worked hard for the gold.
Interpretation of a dream: by gaining gold you will fail to achieve the things you desire.³
