Translation

[Used] with a dative.¹ [Meaning he/she/it] was remembering a wrong, was angry. "So the Khagan was begrudging the Roman forces their fine reputation."²

Ἐνεκότει· δοτικῇ. ἐμνησικάκει, ὠργίζετο. ὁ οὖν Χαγάνος ἐνεκότει εὐδοκιμηθείσαις ταῖς Ῥωμαίων δυνάμεσιν.
