Translation
If two verbs are found construed with one part of speech, as here with a preposition, we ought to construe the preposition with the first one, but the other verb, it doesn't matter, even if they are expressed absolutely: as "I love you and I care." The [verb] "I love" is construed with an accusative, but the [verb] "I care" [is construed] with nothing, but it is absolute. And whatever else, as [if to say] "I love and am concerned for you."

Notes
- The lemma comes from Aristophanes, Knights 1341-2 (web address 1), where however both verbs are accompanied by a pronoun in the appropriate case (accusative with
filw= and genitive withkh/domai ).
