Notes (2)

  1. The unglossed headword is the superlative form of the adjective po/rimos (for which cf. pi 2064), here in the (presumably paradigmatic) masculine nominative singular.
  2. 1Quotation (transmitted, in Adler's view, via the Excerpta Constantini Porphyrogeniti) unidentifiable. It contains the feminine singular accusative form of the headword. ↩
  3. 2A verb, pori/zw, related to the headword (cf. pi 2063). This form of it (third person plural, future indicative middle, post-classical form) is also, already, in Hesychius pi3037, glossed there with peripoih/sontai "they will acquire". Otherwise it is only attested twice prior to the Suda: John Chrysostom, To the People of Antioch PG 49.52.33, and Procopius, Secret History 24.11; and only the first of these predates Hesychius. ↩
