Notes

  1. The headword verb, here uniquely pudali/zw, is elsewhere pugali/zw (a variant noted by an Aristophanic scholiast and in the Etymologicum Magnum; also, Adler reports, in mss GF here) or more usually -- as in LSJ -- pudari/zw (to which Aemilius Portus in his 1630 edition emended the present entry). For the latter see e.g. Orion [Author, Myth] 134.22, Hesychius pi4290, Photius (pi1507 Theodoridis), and generally LSJ s.v.
Compounds (a)po- [alpha 3033] and dia-) are also attested.
