Notes (1)

  1. The headword is the perfect indicative middle/passive, first person singular, of the verb paraqh/gw, literally I sharpen upon, but, metaphorically, I exasperate, provoke; see generally LSJ s.v. It must be quoted from somewhere; Theodoridis (below) suggests the preface to Cyril of Alexandria's Commentary on the Psalms (PG.69.717a).
  2. 1The gloss is the same form as the headword, but from the verb a)kona/w (I whet, (metaphorically) goad, spur); see generally LSJ s.v. The headword is identically glossed in the Synagoge, Photius' Lexicon (pi316 Theodoridis) and Lexica Segueriana 331.6; cf. Hesychius pi700-701.
cf. generally theta 324, theta 325.
