Notes (2)

  1. The headword, evidently extracted from somewhere, is the present active participle, neuter nominative (and vocative and accusative) singular, of the verb pare/lkw, I draw aside, pervert; see LSJ s.v. Same glossing in the Synagoge, Lexica Segueriana 332.10, Photius' Lexicon (pi3474 Theodoridis), and very similar already in Hesychius pi811. The headword is taken to be quoted from one of John Chrysostom's Homilies on the Gospels: see PG 59.29, PG 58.534.
  2. 1The first gloss is the Attic Greek form of an adjective, the neuter nominative (and vocative and accusative) of peritto/s, -h/, -o/n, beyond the regular number/size, extraordinary, odd; see LSJ s.v. perisso/s, pi 1326, and alpha 3530 gloss. ↩
  3. 2The second gloss is the same grammatical form as the headword, but from the verb paratei/nw, I stretch out alongside; see LSJ s.v. and the corresponding aorist active infinitive paratei=nai at pi 463. ↩
