Notes (2)

  1. 1An incomplete version of Aristophanes, Lysistrata 700-701 (web address 1), with the gloss from the scholia there. The 'girl-friend from next door' is revealed in the next line as a Boiotian eel, to be a delicacy at this picnic; however, from enemy territory it cannot come. For Hekate see generally epsilon 363, epsilon 364, epsilon 365. ↩
  2. 2Xenophon, Cyropaedia 2.3.18 (a sham battle), here truncated (cf. web address 2). ↩
