Notes
- At Matthew 1.14, one of the ancestors of Jesus. At 2 Kingdoms 8.17 LXX (2 Samuel 8.17), a priest at David's court: צדוק. Probably eponym of the priestly caste of Sadducees; cf. sigma 27. Certainly, in any event, eponym of the anthem by G.F. Handel, sung at the coronation of British (and other?) monarchs: "Zadok the Priest and Nathan the Prophet anointed Solomon King; and all the people rejoiced ...".)
