Translation

In Juba, in [book] 2 [of] On the Corruption of Language it is explained as a sort of outrageous prank, and of someone striking across the belly with the flat of his foot so as to produce a noise.1

Notes (1)

  1. = Photius sigma359 (where however Theodoridis punctuates before, not after, a)podi/dotai); cf. Hesychius sigma1082, rho38. The headword is the aorist active infinitive of the verb skombri/zw, which is defined differently in sigma 651. No form of this verb appears outside lexicography.
