Notes (2)

  1. 1Likewise or similarly (with varied accentuation) in other lexica; and cf. the scholia to Homer, Iliad 8.179, where u(perqore/ontai occurs. The actual headword is a present participle in the masculine nominative singular; it is perhaps quoted from Aeschylus, Agamemnon 827. ↩
  2. 2Aelian fr.332 Hercher, a garbled version of Herodotus' story (6.134.2) of Miltiades at the siege of Paros; cf. generally mu 1067. (What he leaps over is the perimeter fence, because he is unable to open the doors.) ↩
