Notes
- The headword, an epic perfect participle of the verb
feu/gw (cf. phi 236, phi 237, phi 238) in the masculine nominative plural, is extracted (as Adler notes) from Homer, Iliad 21.6 (web address 1). It occurs altogether four times in the Iliad and also once in Apollonius Rhodius, Argonautica (2.1082). Grammarians comment on the form, Hesychius glosses itmeta\ de/ous feu/gontes "fleeing in fear," and late epic picks up the form.
