Translation

This was the name of one of the lawcourts in Athens, where the Eleven tried cases. A particular couch in bridal apartments used to be called a parabystos; Hyperides mentions one in the [speech] Against Patrokles.1 [So the lawcourt] seems to be described metaphorically, from the stuffings, parabysmata - that is fillings - in cargoes.
