Notes (2)

  1. 1Likewise or similarly in other lexica. This imperative must be quoted from somewhere; probably, as Latte on Hesychius s.v. suggests, the Septuagint (Proverbs 3.9). ↩
  2. 2Greek Anthology 6.238.5-6 (Apollonides), a poor farmer's dedication; cf. Gow and Page vol. I (128-129); vol. II (149); and further excerpts from this epigram at kappa 1874, pi 1940, and pi 1946. Whereas the Suda here transmits ei) mh\, Gow and Page adopt (vol. I, 128) a suggestion of Alfons Hecker (Dutch classical scholar, 1820-1865) and read the optative ei)/h; thus, from meager things, let there be a small grace. ↩
