Translation

[Meaning] well-fed and fat. For this is also what the law commanded. And Malachi the prophet commanded unblemished and perfect ones; and he directs curses at those who have that kind but offer maimed ones.1

Notes (1)

  1. The headword -- perfect middle/passive participle, neuter plural, of mualo/w -- is drawn from Psalm 65:15 LXX (66:15 RSV) in reference to sacrificial animals; here with Theodoret's commentary (PG 80, 1369b). The adjective is rendered as "fatlings" in RSV: "I shall offer thee burnt offerings of fatlings."
  2. 1Malachi 1:6-8 LXX. ↩
